ŠKODA have taken the top two spots in the annual JD Power satisfaction survey.

Hammering home their reputation for reliable and versatile cars, the Superb (see elsewhere on this site for a review of the latest model) was voted the UK’s best car, and the highly competent Yeti was hot on its heels in second place.

Value for money and outstanding customer service figure highly in the survey and the Superb moves up from fourth last year, with the Yeti making its first appearance.

Both won their respective categories, Yeti as best compact SUV and Superb as best family car/compact executive, helping the Milton Keynes based Czech manufacturer into fourth place in the ‘best brands’ classification.

ŠKODA’s UK dealer network also came in for praise, with owners appreciating the friendly manner and responsiveness of staff.

Judged by thousands of car owners who live with their vehicles day-to-day, JD Power is one of the most influential and eagerly anticipated reports in UK motoring.

The full results are published in the July edition of What Car? magazine.

What Car?’s editorial team said that Yeti owners reported a pleasurable driving experience, with suspension discreetly mopping up bumps and potholes. The car’s handling was rated best in class, and owners raved about the slick gearshift while enjoying rapid acceleration and a satisfying purr from the engine.

Customers rated the Superb best in class for rear passenger comfort, but saved their highest praise for the car’s cavernous boot. They loved the fact it was easy to load and unload because of its TwinDoor rear hatch, which can open either as a saloon-style boot or full tailgate.
